This non-invasive treatment is a gentle and natural approach to delivering skin treatments much like the process of photosynthesis.Light Emitting Diode Therapy delivers a dosage of specific narrowband light to targeted areas for skin rejuvenation, acne, inflammation and rosacea. LED can be used as a standalone treatment or as an add-on to existing treatments, providing enhanced outcomes with faster recovery times.
Blue LED light therapy is used to treat inflammatory acne vulgaris as it interacts with p.acnes bacteria to produce a photodynamic reaction that destroys the bacteria. It also reduces pore size and balancing sebum production. The Blue LED spectrum of light has a relatively low penetration into tissue due to its shorter wavelength. Various studies have shown that blue light achieves consistent results in significantly reducing acne lesions.
RED LED light therapy accelerates cell renewal and repair by stimulating fibroblast to form collagen and elastin for smoother, firmer skin. It is clinically proven to increase the body’s natural form of cellular energy (ATP) which kickstarts cells to regenerate faster.
NIR LED light therapy has photobiostimulatory effects. Deep tissue penetration of NIR light stimulates a photochemical reaction within cells that triggers collagen formation and produces systemic healing effects. The process increases blood flow and oxygenation while improving mitochondrial function, energy production, and cell regeneration.
Your skin concerns will determine the type of LED you need. You can make a complimentary consultation with our experienced derma therapist to discuss which treatment option is best for you.
A 12-week program is recommended for acne treatment. This begins with a twice a week treatment for 8 weeks, followed by once a week treatment for 4 weeks. The treatment aims to bring down the bacteria count and reduce inflammation, which results in a lower number of active acne lesions.
For skin rejuvenation, we use red LED light. This treatment can be done with 1 to 4 weeks intervals in between sessions. This is a stand-alone treatment that can be an add-on to other dermal therapy treatments such as skin needling, microdermabrasion, and chemical peel.
No, there is no downtime for LED light therapy.
